Little Witch Academia PS4 gets a Japanese release date

3 weeks ago Bandai Namco released a trailer for the upcoming Little Witch Academia game for PS4. The trailer showed Akko sneaking through the corridoors of Luna Nova Academy to eavesdrop on some fellow students. The gameplay seemed like it was a mix of a free roam adventure game in the school, but it cuts to some footage that looks like it’s in the style of a 2d side scrolling beat em up. The anime wrapped up earlier today in Japan. At the end of the episode there was a commercial showing off a new trailer for the game.

The trailer shows off some shots of Akko messing up some spells alongside some clips of Lotte and Sucy. The main gameplay can pretty much be confirmed to be in the style of a side scrolling beat em up. But there’s also a small snippet that shows off akko in the halls of the academy with a small minimap in the corner, and on the line above that image shows the game with the combat hud in a 3d environment. I can only assume that the combat will be a mix of a 2d side scroller and a 3d beat em up, the more plot focused parts will be a 3d adventure type game set in the school. We also get a name for the game itself, Little Witch Academia: The Magic of Time and the Seven Wonders (Little Witch Academia: Toki no Mahou to nana Fushigi).

There’s also going to be a first print limited edition version of the game. The first print editions will contain: A box with illustrations by Studio Trigger themselves, The game, A drama CD, a Blu-Ray that contains special content, an art book and a game original Chariot Trading card.

Those who pre-order get a downloadable code that gives them a bonus game, Sorceror Warrior Grancharion (Madou Senshi Guransharion), based around the Mech that Akko and Constanze pilot in the 18th episode. It has also been confirmed that Trigger are going to be making some in-game anime footage.

Little Witch Academia: The Magic of Time and the Seven Wonders releases in Japan on PS4 on November 30th.

release date

No word yet as to if it’s going to be coming over to the west or not, but since the reception of the show and OVA’s over here has been mainly positive, I can only expect it to be brought over. We will be posting more news on this game as it comes out.
